The Little Red Robin

One of the things I wanted to do in the first year of running my art business was to help an animal charity in some way. I was so pleased, therefore, to be asked by The Little Red Robin if I wanted to donate a pet portrait to their “Make a Wish” raffle to raise money for Many Tears Animal Rescue (MTAR). The majority of the dogs they take in are ex-breeders who have never seen the outside world before so MTAR provide the love and care they need until eventually they are able to find a permanent home.

The owners of The Little Red Robin, who create and sell vintage, rustic style garden accessories (the sort they remember seeing in their grandparents’ gardens), adopted a dog from MTAR and so wanted to find a way to support their work.

I was the second artist to be signed up but amazingly there are now 8 pet portrait artists gifting their time and talents to this excellent cause. So far over £1600 has been raised which is amazing and I hope they get a lot more before the competition closes at the end of December.

Coincidentally, I have just completed this robin card. I drew it last year but have always thought it would make an excellent Christmas card. It is the second item to be available in my online shop.

My dream for a long time was to be a full time artist, so I’m really grateful to everyone who is supporting me with my small business. I really hope this Make a Wish competition helps Many Tears Animal Rescue find more forever homes and make more doggy dreams come true!
