Brainstorming my brand

I’ve been thinking this week about how to communicate the aspects of my pet portrait and wildlife art business that make it unique and personal to me.

A couple things that come to mind are…

1. Look and feel - with my pet portraits I do not just aim for photo realism, I also look to capture the warmth and character of the pet. I want people who see the drawings to experience what it’s like to stroke them and recognise the life in their eyes. I try to create the feel of the fur, not just the look of it. In this way, my style and interpretation of pet portraits is unique.

2. The Norfolk countryside - I’m really blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the English countryside. One of the wonderful features of the landscape is the waterways - especially for art. I’m looking forward to getting out in the country side more (especially now it’s summer!) and being inspired by the Norfolk wildlife. Some of the animals I’m looking to create original drawings of are kingfishers, hares, cows and swans to name just a few. A wildlife commission that I have lined up for this month is of oystercatchers which I’m so excited to start!

To include these ideas and values visually in my branding I am thinking about a colour scheme and logo. So watch out for a change soon!

As well as thinking about branding, I want to make sure I’m reaching as many people as possible. So as well as Instagram and my website I have now set up a Facebook page. Here’s a link if you want to check it out: https://www.facebook.com/SophieEllaFineArt/ and it would really help if you shared it with your friends - thank you so much!
